Welcome!
Professional Background:
I started working at Saint John's in 2021. I graduated from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, with a History and Social Studies degree. I also have a Master’s degree in Instruction from St. Mary’s and a graduate certificate in Technology Integration from Boise State University. My teaching career started at Hill-Murray School (I am also an alum), where I spent 9 years teaching 7th grade U.S. History, 10th grade World History, 12th grade Government, and an elective for upperclassmen called History of the Universe. I also coached middle school girls basketball, boys basketball (9th grade, B squad, and varsity assistant), acted in multiple plays, and worked backstage. I also led student travel around the United States and the world. Hill-Murray’s enrollment ended up declining, and I had to look for work elsewhere. I spent 1 year teaching 7th-grade U.S. History and 8th-grade Geography at Central and Sunrise Middle Schools in White Bear Lake. Then I moved out to FAIR School in Minneapolis for the next 7 years and taught 10th grade World History, 11th grade U.S. History, and 12th grade Economics and Government. At FAIR, I also led student travel around the world, worked as the technology integration specialist, and was a member of the internal leadership team, which worked to improve school policies and academics. Teaching Middle School Social Studies at Saint John’s is a blessing. I also currently coach baseball at Parkway in St. Paul and JV basketball at Liberty Classical Academy.
Educational Philosophy:
I want to make sure students are well-rounded and have the communication, speaking, writing, technology, and critical thinking skills to ensure students are successful in whatever path they choose after high school.
