The winter sports that St. John's participates in are Swimming, Boys' and Girls' Basketball, and Hockey. Basketball and Hockey are 5th Grade and up, and swimming is K-8th Grade, based on a try-out of swimming ability.If you haven't already signed up, please use the following link to sign up: Winter 25-26 Sports Sign-UpTHE DEADLINE TO REGISTER THE BOYS' AND GIRLS' BASKETBALL TEAMS WITH THE CAA IS AT THE END OF OCTOBER. ATHLETES NEED TO BE SIGNED UP BY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29TH, TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY.THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER THE HOCKEY TEAM WITH THE CAA IS AT THE END OF NOVEMBER. ATHLETES NEED TO BE SIGNED UP BY WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH, TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY.THE TRYOUTS FOR THE SCHOOL SWIM TEAM ARE IN EARLY DECEMBER. PLEASE HAVE YOUR ATHLETES SIGNED UP BY WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26TH, SO TRYOUT TIME AND LOCATION CAN BE PLANNED ACCORDINGLY.

Hockey
First practice and jersey handouts will occur in late December or early January, and games commence in January, weather dependent. Our league will consist of mixed 5th-8th grades and includes boys and girls. The regular season will consist of a 9-week schedule. League games are outdoors, typically on Wednesdays and games may be played on Holidays.

Basketball
We hope to host both a girls' and boys' basketball team this year. Practices are a couple of afternoons each week after school in November. The regular season will consist of a 9-week schedule. Teams play one game per week.

Swimming - available for grades K-8
Try-outs will be announced. Any new swimming athletes must try out for the team, to ensure they can swim 25m unsupported. Swimming preliminaries are typically in April.
Practices are weekly on Wednesday Nights from 6:15-7:15 pm between 01/07/26 and 04/08/26 (with the exception of 03/11/26 during spring break) at Chippewa Middle School.
