In addition to language arts, I am also the 8th-grade homeroom teacher. The 8th graders have many exciting activities throughout the year such as the Halloween party and Christmas program. Click here to learn more about these activities.

While the middle school students are in their specialist classes (art, gym, computer, ect...) I teach a class called Learning Strategies. In this class, I assist students with their homework (in all subject areas), study skills, and organizational skills. This is an option for students who may be struggling and need some extra one-on-one teacher time.

I am also the student council advisor for Saint John School. Our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students make up the student council which is in charge or at least has a hand in helping with all of the fun events of the school year like dances, talent shows, and fundraisers. To find out more about the student council, click here to visit our page.

Students in grades 6-8 are required to read novels of their own choosing approximately once a month and create reports which summarize these novels. Each book chosen must be middle school reading level and appropriate in content. Students may not choose books that have been turned into movies. Students must have their books checked by their parents as well as by Mrs. Leciejewski to be sure that it is appropriate. Students are encouraged, but not required, to choose different genres of books each month as well as different styles of reports. More information will come home each month. You may also look at the worksheets below to see the different requirements for different styles of reports.
